My Story
Chris McGregor (He/Him/His) has a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Bishop’s University and a
Masters in Theatre in Directing from the University of British Columbia. Chris has taught physical
theatre, scene study, audition and monologue courses, Commedia dell’arte, mask and Red Nose
Clown at the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Bishop’s University and
Studio 58.
He was the co-artistic director of Carousel Theatre 2001-2006; he created the popular
Theatre Under the Gun Festival 1998-2004. He has directed more than 60 productions across
Canada and has won four Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards and nominated for four Ovation
Awards for directing.
He was appointed Artistic Director of Axis Theatre Company in 2015.
Chris has directed several of Axis Theatre touring productions; Robinson Crusoe + Friday, Raven Meets The Monkey King and the world premieres of Hamelin: A New Fable, Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch, Willowbridge, Kwi’ah: The Girl Who Heals, Th’owxiya the Hunger Feast Dish, The Troll
Grandfather and Frog Belly Rat Bone.
