Echoes of the Mask is an immersive, hands-on workshop led by one of the most accomplished professionals in the field—Chris McGregor.

 

Instructor Profile

Chris McGregor is a celebrated theatre artist, Artistic Director and director with extensive experience in mask work, physical theatre, and storytelling. With a career spanning multiple disciplines, Chris has developed a deep understanding of how to craft compelling performances using masks to unlock new dimensions of expression. His expertise ensures that participants will receive top-tier training in this dynamic and often underexplored performance technique. An award-winning director and educator with countless productions to his name across Canada. He brings a bold, physical approach to performance, honed through decades of teaching and directing. With extensive experience in commedia dell’arte, mask, and devised theatre, Chris has taught at top institutions including UBC, SFU, and Studio 58.

Currently the Artistic Director of Axis Theatre, Chris is known for igniting ensemble work with energy, clarity, and joy. His work has earned Jessie Awards and Ovation nominations, and his touring productions have reached audiences nationwide. This is a rare chance to train with one of Canada’s most imaginative and physically driven theatre-makers.
